Ork Lore
Creations of neither the Gods or entities of the Beyond, it is often questioned if Orks can even be called a species, or are simply an affliction. Endoparasitic asexual reproduction being their primary method of perpetuating. The reason holds that their need to assimilate others to reproduce disqualifies them from being an independent species.
Whether or not they are defined as a distinct species, Orks persist with little concerns for such things. Living mainly as a tribal species, most Orks exist outside of formal nations, forming tribes of their own or with other non-Denizens.
Despite their preference for avoiding developed nations, Orks are by nature a very friendly species, if violent when they choose. Far from aggressive, the combative nature of Orks is predominantly directed towards hunting and defending against the beasts that live in the untamed wilderness their tribes favor.
Due to mostly inhabiting land too hostile for Denizen populations, Orks rarely interact with Denizens. In fact, it is quite uncommon for them to war with other sapients. Most cases of Ork violence has been reports to be the result of assaults against one of their tribes. However, such events rarely end well for the aggressor.
When interacting with an affable, and often comically irresponsible, Ork tribe, it can be easy to forget that they were originally created by the Low King as foot soldiers that could be recruited from any living thing they came across.
It has been widely debated why, when creating a creature to wage war, the Low King would imbue works with a skill at ingratiating others and a seeming disinterest in war. While many theories have been presented, only the Low King themselves truly knows.
Appearance: Similar to the majority of Denizens on the Tower Continent, Orks are humanoid. Their skin possesses an almost corpse like pallor and remains unaffected by exposure to daylight. Lean frames bely an unnatural strength, their mana innately augmenting them beyond what their nimble builds should allow. Orks’ ears are slightly pointed, something revealed by their complete lack of hair, body hair or otherwise.
